Ingredient Eight - Money, Money, Money - The Haves and the Have-Nots!

Read the full Getting Along Academy Curriculum here!

No matter who tells you differently, the “Haves” and the “Have Nots” will never get along. This is another one of those inconvenient truths that nobody wants to talk about. The truth of the matter is plain: excessively wealthy people living happily ever after with excessively poor people has never worked and never will.

There is a reason why the rich want to hold onto their money and a reason why poor people want more money. Money does buy you comfort, safety, and security. Our telling ourselves anything different, is just a convenient lie the wealthy tell ourselves to justify our inaction on the issue of poverty.

It's not our laws that are broken. Poverty is not a governmental problem, it's a moral problem, it’s a values problem. A widespread belief in natural law, however, would have us believe that our compassion towards those who have less than we do, is a pathway, and is not a burden. We might all agree that poverty in America is not someone else's problem, it is all of our problem.

Natural Law would have us moderate disparities in life experience until some acceptable happy medium is achieved. It would have us take a more balanced approach. Using the Natural Laws as our foundation, the extreme rich and extreme poor might find common ground; because they would define right and wrong the same way - this would heal our divided nation.

Natural Law training courses like this one should result in long term sustainable improvement in this area.
